{free pattern} Ribbed & Love Neckwarmer

Do you see the Love??? or do you see this symbol (<) more than the Love? 😀

This will be my first time writing down a crochet pattern! Usually I just “let it go”, I made one and I won’t make again, because I want to keep it personalized. But since this particular neckwarmer is so cute and also I got a request, I said “why not?” as I need to start to get organize with the patterns – nothing is extraordinary, it’s just a simple, basic and mix match pattern, as I’m not a designer! 🙂

Everyone is welcome to try & to share, leave your comment, your link, you are welcome to post them on my Facebook page ^^, but please do not sell this pattern!

So, here is the pattern – are you ready? 🙂

Ribbed & Love Neckwarmer – simple, basic, mix&match

You will need:

  • DK yarn – I used 3 colors to alternate each row
  • Hook 4.00mm (G-6)
  • Buttons – I used 6 of 2cm natural Coconut buttons
  • Yarn needle
  • Gauge is not necessary

Special stitch:

  • FPDC (Front Post Double Crochet): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front again, around post of indicated st, yarn over and draw up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on the hook twice (the same way you’re making DC (double crochet – US term)
  • Love cluster: {2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc}

Neckwarmer – finished height 17cm (6.5″), finished length as desired

Chain 31

R1 : 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc across (30 sc), ch 3 and turn

R2:  hdc in the next st, *ch 3, skip 3 sts, hdc in the next 3 sts* repeat from * to * and ending with hdc in the last st, ch 3 and turn

R3: *Love cluster {2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc} in the ch 3-space, skip 1 dc, hdc in the next dc (the 2nd dc of 3-dc cluster), skip 1 dc* Repeat from * to * until the last Love cluster {2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc}, 1 dc in the turning chain space. Change color, Ch 3 and turn

R4: *Love cluster in the ch 2 -space, dc in the hdc* repeat from * to * and ending with 1 dc in the turning chain space. Change color, Ch 3 and turn

R5: *Love cluster in the ch 2-space, FPDC in the dc* repeat from * to * and ending with 1 dc in the turning chain space. Change color

Repeat R5 until desired length

Last row: 1 sc each st and 2 sc in the ch 2-space. Fasten off, weave all of the tails, sew on buttons in the beginning of neckwarmer and there you go!

Tips on changing color: I use natural color from R1 to R3 (making the base), and then change color every row to give a beautiful effect on FPDC and its Love.

The neckwarmer that I made is for kids/toddler, my finished item’s size is 17cm (6.5′) x 49cm (19″), then I attached Coconut buttons to give an earthy feeling. That’s all!!

So feel free to try, and please link it back to me. ^^
